But, where does the sand go?

Every morning we wake up and we are given a large jar of sand. We get to decide where we put that sand for the day and here are really only four jars in everyones life:

  • Relationships

  • Work (the thing we for money)

  • Passion Projects

  • Personal Things (entertainment, meditation, etc.)

In an ideal world, the work we do and our passion project is the same thing, but regardless of what the internet tells you, that is very rare.

So every morning that I wake up, I get to decide, “How much sand am I putting into my family jar? My work jar? My passion projects jar? My personal jar?”

We have to choose wisely, because the jar we fill last is going to end up with the least amount of sand.

There is no right or wrong way to fill your jars. We all fill them based on how we weigh the world in any given moment or season of our lives.

I could tell you how I fill my jars, but quite frankly, that’s not helpful for you. They are your jars. You have to make your own decisions about where to put your sand.

Every morning the jars are empty. So the question is, “Where does the sand go?”

That sand is being used to build four unique mountains. The more sand you put into the same jar day after day after day, the higher that mountain will become. The deeper your relationships will be, the more progress you’ll make on you passion project, etc.

So…

Where are you putting your sand today?

And more importantly, which mountain are you trying to build?
